When the Story is Done, June 10, 2007
Words and Music by Leah Van Maaren

I wrote this after hearing a sermon from a pastor who had a strange encounter in which Jesus appeared to him and told the pastor he was saved, but was wasting his life. How often we forget the call to holiness and what is yet to come after the current age passes away.

Remember your Creator
Remember the work of His hands
Remember His deeds in Israel
Remember His ultimate plan
There is something bigger
Another story unfolding fast
Without eyes and ears to see it, hear it
How quickly we forget the past

Without Hope, this life is useless
Without Hope, we aimlessly run
Without Hope we forget the big picture
And what comes when the story is done

Remember your Sustainer
Remember the depth of His love
Remember His call to holy living
Remember His gifts from above
There is more than this life can give
So much more than the eye can see
Let your heart not be troubled
In this momentary suffering

Without Hope, this life is useless
Without Hope, we aimlessly run
Without Hope we forget the big picture
And what comes when the story is done

His lovingkindness will endure
His steadfastness is sure...

Without Hope, this life is useless
Without Hope, we aimlessly run
Without Hope we forget the big picture
And what comes when the story is done
And what comes when the story is done

When Jesus comes, the story is done
