Living Water, My Desire, September 4, 2008
Words and Music by Leah Van Maaren

A rewrite of the old hymn "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". I tried to rewrite each line to reflect the original meaning, just using a contemporary language. The melody is still reminscent of the original, but changed it enough to call it my own. These same words could be used to the original "Nettleton" melody.

Lyrics with traditional "Come Thou Fount" chords.

Living Water, my desire, immerse my heart now in Your grace.
For Your mercy, never ceasing, calls for songs of loudest praise
Teach my heart to sing Your glory as the angels sing Your name.
I am set on praising Jesus, name of Your redeeming fame.
name of your redeeming fame.

Here and now Your love has blessed me, You have brought me to this place.
And I know Your hand will lead me day by day in Your good grace
Though my heart is prone to wander, You pursue in jealous love
and You rescue me from danger; mercy pours out in Your blood
mercy pours out in Your blood.

Now to grace I am indebted, daily I am bound to You.
Let Your goodness, never failing, keep my heart strong, to endure
Let me never wander from You, let my heart always be pure
Here's my heart O take and seal it; in Your love will I endure
in Your will I endure
