As Deep As Where You Are, July 25, 2006
Words and Music by Leah Van Maaren

This came to me upon reading the story of Jesus washing the disciples' feet. Peter told Jesus that Jesus wasn't to wash his feet, but Jesus reply was "I must." If Jesus must wash us clean before we can be in right relationship with God, than he must be able to wash the dirtiest of feet.

VERSE 1:
As you walk down this lonesome road
The dust gets in your eyes
It's swirling, twisting all around
And you're blinded to the light
Your feet are tired, worn, and scarred
By the stones thrown in the way
But you push forward, steady onward
For you have heard me say,

CHORUS:
"I'll wash those dirty feet
And fill the journey's scars.
My washing runs as deep as where you are."

VERSE 2:
In this dust storm of confusion
A pride gets in the way

This dusty road is flooding over
With a river deep and vast
This dusty road is flooding over
with a river deep and vast
Yes, a river deep and vast

[CHORUS]

BRIDGE:

It's running over you
It's healing and guiding,
That water strong and blue
It's washing and flowing
It's running over you
It's healing and guiding,
That water strong and blue
Where I'll...
